Dorset  is where the Black death is presumed to have started, carried by rats onboard a boat in Melcombe Regis. Evidence of prehistoric man can be seen on many hilltops in the form of burial mounds.  If you're interested in history you will be able to discover  remains of the Iron Age, Normans and Romans in and around Weymouth and Dorset. Much of the seafront in Weymouth, Dorset, is Georgian but most visitors come to Weymouth for the fine swathe of safe (blue flag) sandy beach.  It's a traditional seaside resort with donkey rides, family entertainment, a Sea Life centre - a good place to lie back in your deck chair and enjoy the sea air. And, if you like to get out and about,  visit the old harbour, Weymouth's period shopping village, and perhaps find out more about the history of Weymouth at the  'Timewalk Journey'.

	Stonebank Annexe forms part of a Grade II listed building, which dates from the early 17th century.  Situated in a quiet location near the centre of the village of Chickerell, it is set back from the road in pleasant gardens. From the lounge, the patio doors lead to the enclosed garden and patio.  It is a mile from the Fleet (the narrow lagoon between Chesil Beach and the mainland) and the South West coastal path.   This part of the coast is known as Jurassic and used to be a brilliant place for finding fossils. It is an ideal cottage if you're wanting to visit Abbotsbury Swannery to see the vast swan population in late May or June.
Luxury cottage to sleep up to 8 people in 5 bedrooms + cot, near Weymouth
	Higher Farm Cottage is a traditional Grade II listed country cottage less than half a mile from Chesil Beach in Dorset.  It is luxuriously equipped, has a secure walled back garden with a BBQ and garden furniture.  There are five bedrooms to accommodate up to eight people plus a cot.

	St Anthony's Cottage nestles in the middle of a beautiful row of traditional cottages in the village of Langton Herring, near Weymouth. This period cottagewas fully refurbished with holiday lettings in mind to provide: 3 double bedrooms sleeping 6 plus cot, bathroom and shower room, comfortable and tasteful rooms, inglenook with wood-burning stove. Garden and barbecue at rear.  Close to Chesil beach.

Bakehouse Cottage - luxury cottage sleeps up to 8 in 4 bedrooms
	Bakehouse Cottage is a luxury self-catering cottage in the village of Langton Herring, Dorset, lying between Weymouth and Abbotsbury. It will be available for holiday letting for the first time during 2005. It can accommodate up to 8 people in 4 bedrooms.  Bakehouse Cottage is next door to St Anthony's Cottage (q.v.) and for larger parties the two properties combined offer accommodation for 14 adults plus two cots.  To the rear there is a paved patio area and garden. The garden abuts one of Higher Farm's fields. Patio chairs, a table and a barbecue are all provided. Garage parking is adjacent to the property with additional parking available by the farm entrance.
