Edinburgh is an excellent destination for a family holiday. There is so much to do for people of all ages. There are numerous tourist attractions in Edinburgh to keep the children interested. The open top bus tours are a good way of getting to know what there is to see and identify locations for later visits. Edinburgh Zoo is one of the most open and well-designed zoos in the country. A car is essential if you plan to tour. Go 'Nessie spotting' at Loch Ness, pay a visit to Pitlochry to see the salmon ladder where the salmon swim upstream to spawn, or just view the spectacular scenery. Children will thoroughly enjoy paddling in shallow icy cold streams that run off the hills and be enthralled by the shy deer, swooping birds of prey and abundance of wildlife.
