Self-catering holiday cottages, apartments and lodges plus other accommodation near Southend on Sea and Adventure Island.  Southend on Sea is a sprawling seaside town overlooking the Thames Estuary. It boats the longest pier in England. Holidaymakers can walk 1.3 miles out to sea or take the small train in either direction. There are excellent views of the coast from the end of the pier.

Another place for good views of the beach is from the lift building across from the pier entrance. What attracts holidaymakers to Southen is its proximity to London and a direct railway line.  There is an enormous funfair, bright lights, amusements and an excellent shopping centre. The two theatres of Cliffs Pavilion and the Palace feature excellent productions all year round at lower prices than London. Westcliff is the 'upmarket' end of the resort. It is quieter there with pleasant gardens overlooking the sea. There is a good walk along the  coast from Southen to Leigh on Sea with its quaint fishing area.
