 Accommodation

  • There are two bedrooms, one double and one twin. Both enjoy dreamy views to the fields beyond.

  • The bathroom with a deep bath, separate shower cubicle (with power shower fed with our own water) and heated ladder towel rail is clean and inviting.

  • The kitchen is fabulously equipped with the essentials (oven, hob, extractor, microwave, dishwasher, fridge, freezer and food processor) and all the gadgets needed to rustle up the finest of feasts.

  • In the utility room you'll find a downstairs WC, sink and washing machine as well as coat airing facilities and a boot rack.

  • The lounge is so cosy. It's log burner set back into the inglenook fireplace, rustic leather sofas, deep window seats and character furnishings create a home you'll not want to leave.

  • The dining room has a table sufficient in size to seat 10 hungry folk should you fancy entertaining during your stay.

  • There is a separate study area with desk and easy chair from which you can enjoy a book, write postcards or plan your itinerary.

  • Outside the elevated patio overlooks the massive garden.

  • The huge garden offers privacy as well as providing a great space for children to let off steam.

  • There is off-road private parking for 2 vehicles. More vehicles can be accommodated by arrangement.

  • There is a livery yard at ¾ mile away so guests are welcome to bring their horses on holiday!

  • If you are reluctant to leave your dog at home, why not try Westown Holiday Camp for dogs. Here your dog lives as family on this lovely farm situated in the heart of the Culm Valley around 2½ miles from the cottage. No kennels, just acres of green fields, a river that all the dogs love to swim in and lots of wonderful smells!

  • There is a small walled front garden and a cobbled path which leads to the front door. This is over arched with fragrant honeysuckle and old fashioned roses.

What about the extras that will make your stay comfortable? At Windover Farm Cottage you'll enjoy lots of extras which will convert your stay here from something average into a truly memorable, stress free and relaxed holiday.

  • A freshly baked Victoria sponge cake (made with our own fresh, free-range hen eggs or, when in season, goose eggs), a pack of our own sausages and pot of home-made jam or marmalade will be left for you along with tea, coffee, sugar and a jug of milk.
  • Children are very welcome guests and to help we provide (by arrangement) a high chair, stair gate and travel cot as well as changing mats, a steriliser, a 3-wheel pushchair and baskets of toys, games, books and DVDs to suit different ages. This will save space in your car and help amuse your children what ever the weather.

  • Sumptuous Egyptian cotton Bed linen, all-seasons duvets, quality mattresses and the fresh Devon air will ensure that you sleep well.

  • Hand, bath towels and bath sheets are included. They are fluffy, white and folded in the airing cupboard ready for use.

  • All electricity is included.

  • The oil fired central heating is responsive so you will always be warm and cosy

  • There is a digital TV (with built-in freeview), a DVD player, HiFi system and a portable CD player/radio. The CD and DVD library offer a broad range of material to suit most tastes.

  • The washing machine and clothes line enable you to keep on top of the washing whilst away.

  • You'll be supplied with enough kindling and logs to last your stay. All the firewood is sourced locally from sustainably managed woods and hedgerows.

  • Order one of the hampers made up from local foods and produce or vegetable box to be delivered ready for your stay.

  • If you enjoy the convenience of supermarket shopping why not make an on-line order to be delivered between 10am and 12 noon on your arrival day. Your shopping will then be unpacked ready for your stay.

  • Windover Farm Cottage is part of a 15 acre smallholding. Save you scraps and feed them to the rare breed Gloucester Old Spot pigs, admire the various breeds of hens and watch the geese and ducks as they paddle around.

  • The old dairy is available for your extra storage requirements (such as bikes, push chairs etc). It also homes a variety of outdoor play equipment including a sand pit, ride-on toys for toddlers and also a variety of bats and balls, cricket stumps and goal posts to keep the children amused as you enjoy the sun and relax on the lawn.

  • The peanut and mixed seed feeders, home-made fat balls and dried meal worms attract a huge quantity of garden birds. Study them from the kitchen or the garden. A easy to use bird identifying chart is supplied to help you get started. Green woodpeckers, robins, long tailed tits and gold finches are all regular visitors.

  • There are sturdy hardwood garden chairs, a table and a BBQ (available on request). Enjoy your evening meal al-fresco while you soak up the fantastic landscape around.

  • The area is great for walking and we supply a full set of Ordnance Survey maps so that you can make the very best use of the network of public rights of way.

  • The River Madford adjoins the smallholding. This shallow river offers a fantastic wildlife habitat and it supports rare species including kingfishers and water voles. By day, explore the river or by night, sit on the patio and listen to the owls calling, the river babbling and while watching the stars.

  • The cottage sits within a Conservation Area and within the Blackdown Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The views are tremendous and the location itself gives a wonderful sense of space and freedom.

  • And in the garden ...is a hen arc and 3 lovely hens (named Chocolate, Bridget and Copper). These lovely ladies will keep you in fresh eggs during your stay.
