Self catering country cottages in Bedfordshire, England

Bedfordshire is a largely rural district which lies just north of Hertfordshire.  Bedfordshire is a good choice for family self catering holidays with both Woburn Safari park and Whipsnade Zoo being in the area.  The Dunstable Downs are also good for families on country cottage holidays with lots of opportunities for walking and kite flying from just outside the Chilterns Gateway Centre.  Many also enjoy cycling around Bedfordshire.

For adults there are many pretty historical villages to visit including Ampthill and Woburn where you can visit the country estate of Woburn Abbey.  If you enjoy shopping there are plenty opportunities for retail therapy in the main large towns of Bedford and Luton.

Bedfordshire has good transport links with London with the main towns of Luton and Bedford being around an hour by train from London.  This makes Bedfordshire a good choice for Londoners to take some time away from the city and enjoy the beautiful English countryside.

Luton airport is one of the main international airports in the UK and a great deal of visitors to the UK for self catering and other holidays arrive at London Luton airport – although take note, the airport is around 30 minutes by train from London.
