Many holidaymakers travel
to Kent from London to visit Canterbury with its famous cathedral, Dover for
Channel crossings or to visit the historic castle, the many excellent traditional
seaside resorts, stately homes and gardens, and Bluewater - a shopping centre
with designer outlets. Oast houses (photograph on above right) that were once used
to dry hops for the beer making industry and grown in Kent can still be seen
in many villages. Kent is a popular destination for people in the south east
and London for day trips - there are numerous attractive villages to explore,
and good pubs for lunch.
