Kent The Gun Emplacement

The Gun Emplacement is the nearest house to France. It's perched on the cliff top on Lighthouse Down, the National Trust's protected coastal expanse, which has come to be known as The White Cliffs. The house was built by the Army in 1910, Sir Peter Ustinov was billeted there during the Second War and he bought it from the Ministry of Defence in 1946. I bought it in 1977 and have used it as my seaside home.In 2000, it was extensively renovated inside and out and is now a very comfortable though not luxurious one-storey, centrally-heated residence in a unique location, with uninterrupted views across the Channel to Calais, gardens back and front and offers total peace in glorious unspoiled countryside. It is not suitable for children under 12 but fine for older people,(two steps) Up to 4 dogs welcome by arrangement - Dependant upon size of dogs! NO SMOKERS. There are 3 double bedrooms, a pleasant sitting-room with a fire-place and new convertable sofa, good views looking over the sea, with sliding double-glazed windows on 3 sides: a tiny modern kitchen fitted with Ikea cupboards, fridge-freezer, dishwasher, microwave, a separate WC, new bathroom with basin, bath and tiled walk-in shower with excellent pressure. There is even an airing cupboard to keep linen warm. The cottage can sleep 1-7 people. 7 night lets only from Saturday to Saturday only.

Sussex Holme Street House

Holme Street House is a picturesque Grade 2 listed Georgian farmhouse, set in 10 acres of land. It is well equipped and beautifully furnished, having been our family home. The house is well stocked with family games and toys, and a large and varied selection of books for our visitors' use. It is peaceful and secluded, with views to the front over its own pastureland, and to the side and rear over delightful gardens. The tended gardens are a particular feature of the property, and extend to over 2 acres. They contain lawns, several different sitting areas, herb and vegetable gardens, orchard, Wendyhouse, and outdoor heated swimming pool (May - Sept approx) and changing room area. The pool is in its own separate walled area which can be closed off for safety. The field, sometimes grazed by sheep, can be walked in and leads to a small lake which contains carp and roach - you are welcome to fish, but will need to bring your own rods. The village of Pulborough is a 15 minute walk along the lane or through the field, and has excellent local shops. There are also 2 supermarkets within a 5 minute drive.

Holme Street House is a picturesque Grade 2 listed 18th Century Georgian farmhouse set in a secluded location in 10 acres of grounds. It has 4 bedrooms, and ample space downstairs including a family room with double sofa bed, so would suit 2 families holidaying together. Baby grand piano in sitting room. There is an outdoor heated swimming pool (May - Sept) for exclusive use of occupants, and 2 acres of beautiful tended gardens. It is just a short drive from the South Downs and the south coast, with all its varied attractions.

Kent Capri

Capri is a bright and spacious chalet, tucked away at the end of a cul-de-sac in its own private garden. It has views to the rear over fields, and on a clear day you can see Dover's white cliffs! New Romney station, model railway and cafe, with its 15 inch gauge steam railway is a 2 minute walk from the house. The trains run past the garden fence to the side - become 'the railway children' for a week! The enclosed garden has a sunny terraced area, a small area of lawn, and a 'secret garden' under a weeping willow, with a wooden wendy house and a swing. From the garden you have a good view of the trains, railway and engine shed. Capri is a 5 bedroom family house, situated at the end of a cul-de-sac, overlooking the Romney Hythe and Dymchurch miniature steam Railway. New Romney station is just a 2 minute walk from the house - a railway fan's paradise! Oliver’s at Pouchlands, is a refurbished Victorian House, formerly part of the local Poor House. Oliver’s accommodation is both luxurious and spacious, with two bedrooms both of which have ensuite facilities.
