Lincolnshire in the East Midlands is a county that's noted for many different things. 

 Its seaside towns of Skegness and Mablethorpe played host to many coal mining families of yesteryear during the summer holidays.   Now, the pits are shut down and coal mining is no longer a viable industry, but the seaside resorts are still there, with their quaint traditional charm welcoming new generations of visitors.  

The beaches are sandy, there are still amusements and old-fashioned donkey rides on the beach.

The area around Spalding the in the south east of Lincolnshire is famous as a flower and bulb growing area. Flower heads that are removed from plants grown for bulbs are used to decorate the floats in Spalding's Flower Parade in June. The Lincolnshire Wolds is a gently undulating range of hills from south near Horncastle up past Caistor to the north.  The Viking Way - an ancient market track - passes through them.  This long distance footpath travels through picturesque countryside with plentiful wildlife, past pretty market towns, and is ideal for those who enjoy a good walk without undue strain. There are plenty of tourist attractions to visit for days out, the impressive cathedral in Lincoln, Lincoln Castle, stately homes like Burghley House in Stamford, castles, golf courses including the famous Woodhall Spa.  Lots to do for the whole family.
