Find holiday cottages for your self-catering holiday on the Suffolk Norfolk border in East Anglia. Both Norfolk and Suffolk are beautiful rural counties for a holiday. There are numerous fascinating places to visit, old towns and charming villages to enjoy with a good dash of antiques in many places. This is the ideal location for a true country cottage holiday, especially if you like the idea of staying in a centuries old cottage, steeped in history. Part of the border between the two counties is delineated by the River Waveney which contributes to Oulton Broad and the Norfolk Broads and has led to the development of self-catering holidays afloat. All around the Broads are lodges to rent for a spot of fishing, holiday apartments and traditional cottages. It is possible to rent boats and cruisers by the day for sightseeing on the water.
Both Norfolk and especially Suffolk have brightly painted or colour-washed cottages that make a street scene brightly hued. The older terraced cottages tend to be a little small but ample for couples looking to rent one or two bedroom accommodation. Farmhouses standing detached can be spacious and have enviably large kitchens with an Aga and huge breakfast table.
Both counties have lovely countryside although the landscape in Norfolk can be a little flatter. Suffolk may have the edge when it comes to gentle hills and nature reserves, Norfolk can boast more sandy beaches. It is good to find that good quality holiday home close to the Suffolk Norfolk border, perhaps in Bungay, Diss or Thetford and have the best of both worlds.
