Cowes on the Isle of Wight is known as the world’s premier yachting centre with its natural harbour at the mouth of the River Medina boasting the island’s main port. Cowes is separated into two towns, Cowes and East Cowes, linked by an old fashioned chain ferry and bridge, this provides you with plenty to explore and enjoy on your self-catering cottage holiday. The beginning of August is a busy time of year for Cowes as it holds the annual prestigious sailing event, Cowes week.

Cowes not only provides a great maritime history for you to learn about but also plenty of other attractions including some great shopping. With independent and chains stores and plenty of sailing merchandise and clothing to suit the yachting fraternity you’ll find plenty to get stuck into. Cowes also boasts lively pubs and restaurants with fantastic food and great atmospheres.

Overlooking the solent and way above the high street you can find Northwood House and park with 26 acres of beautiful gardens and parkland. Of course there is also the famous Osbourne House, located in East Cowes, which was once the seaside retreat for Queen Victoria and Prince Albert and also boasts wonderful grounds and gardens.  With so much to see and do in Cowes when will you book your cottage holiday?
