The village of Pentre Gwynfryn can be found in Gwynedd in north Wales, in the lovely area of Ardudwy within the greenery of Snowdonia National Park. Quite close to the sea and situated on the River Cwmnantcol, the village is picturesque, friendly and ideal for a quiet and relaxing rural retreat break in a serene part of Wales.

About Pentre Gwynfryn for Cottage Holidays

One of the highlights of Pentre Gwynfryn and a must-see whilst enjoying a self-catering break in the village is the Salem Chapel. The interior of this chapel was made famous by the painter Sydney Curnow Vosper, who painted one of the members of the church in one of his most recognised pieces, Salem. This famous English painter created a masterpiece in 1908 of one of the congregation of the chapel at the time, Sian Owen, an old lady who is wearing the Welsh national costume in the painting. Today, visitors can view the painting in the Lady Lever Art Gallery in Port Sunlight on the Wirral in England.

Pentre Gwynfryn is one mile from the charming village of Llanbedr, which has a couple more amenities including plenty of shops and two public houses. The Victoria Inn is a great one to visit, and there is also a restaurant housed within the heritage museum that is dedicated to World War II. This museum used to be an RAF complex but today has great exhibitions and displays about the local history of the surrounding villages in terms of the Second World War.

Pentre Gwynfryn is located within the boundaries of the Snowdonia National Park, one of the most beautiful in the United Kingdom. The tallest mountain in England and Wales, Mount Snowdon, is located here, and taking a visit to see this soaring peak, or even ascending to the top, is something you have to do whilst on a cottage holiday in this part of Wales. Some like to hike up whereas if you prefer to take it easy, take the train which will take you on a scenic journey. Other highlights and things to see and do in Snowdonia include the gorgeous Llanberis Pass, Glyder Fach which is another mountain, great for climbing, and one of the several sparkling lakes in the National Park including Tal y Llyn.

Pentre Gwynfryn is a lovely village which is serene and surrounded by beautiful countryside, from the trickling river to the dense forestry and woodlands that are great for exploring and going on long walks. There is a lot to see and do close by, and with the sea less than a ten minute drive away, you can experience a lot of what this part of Wales has to offer in just one trip.

When it comes to finding a good quality place to stay, enjoy looking through the available choice of rural retreat cottages and secluded country cottages.

Whether you choose to book a holiday cottage in Pentre Gwynfryn, an apartment, a lodge or another type of self-catering holiday accommodation, we hope you have your best holiday yet in Gwynedd.
