The Heights of Abraham tourist attraction is on limestone cliffs in Matlock Bath and exposed rock is apparent throughout the area. Matlock Bath boasts at least five fish and chip shops as well as other eateries. The former Masson Mills are well worth a visit to see how cotton used to be processed and woven. There is also a lead mining museum.

Matlock is recommended for Hen and Stag weekends, there are plenty of large self-catering houses to rent, some with a hot tub in the back garden. The town is ideal for family self-catering breaks because of the park which has a splash area, a children’s playground, tennis courts and boating.

Traditional stone-built period houses are clustered around the town centre.
