Choose from 4 comfortable and welcoming holiday cottages at Mel House Cottages in Newton-on-Rawcliffe in North Yorkshire. The cottages are set in the beautiful village centre and sleep from 1-6 guests. Guests at Mel House Cottages enjoy shared use of the Indoor heated swimming pool, a spa and a sauna.

Originally stone stables and a granary, the cottages have been converted to offer comfortable good quality accommodation and are set in 2 acres of land above the stunning Newtondale. The charming village of Newton-on-Rawcliffe boasts a village green, a pond, children’s play area and the lovely White Swan Inn.

Two of the cottages: ‘Mallard’ and ‘Swift’ offer wet rooms which have support rails. These properties have been awarded access level M3- Assisted and M3- Independent under the National Accessible Scheme, making them suitable for wheelchair users. ‘Owl’, rated access level M1-Independent, is suitable for those with mobility impairments and has no internal stairs, however is not suitable for wheelchair users.

    The Cottages in More Detail:

    Mallard- This charming cottage sleeps up to 6 in 5 beds spread across 3 bedrooms. Tastefully decorated and furnished, this holiday home has an open-plan living area with spacious sitting room area and wood-burning stove. There is a fully-equipped fitted kitchen and dining area. There are 2 bathrooms and the three bedrooms consist of one double and two twin bedrooms.

    - Sleeping up to 5 in 3 bedrooms (one double bedroom, one twin and a single), Swift is a very attractive ground floor conversion and boasts period features such as exposed beams and a feature stone wall in the sitting room and dining room. There is a wood-burning stove, fully equipped kitchen, a bathroom and a separate wet room.

    Owl - this charming two bedroom holiday apartment sleeps up to 4 in one double bedroom and one twin bedroom. There are no internal steps, making it a great choice for the less mobile or those travelling with young children. There is an open plan living area with dining area and fully-equipped kitchen as well as a family bathroom.

    Granary- This charming first-floor apartment sleeps up to 3 + 1. The Granary has attractive exposed beams and external stone steps with a hand-rail. Inside there is an open-plan living area complete with comfortable sitting room, dining room and fitted kitchen. There are lovely views of Lewisham from the Granary. In terms of bedrooms there is one double and one single (which can be converted into a twin if required, supplement charged) and there is also a spacious family bathroom with a corner bath and separate shower cubicle. The Granary is not suitable for children aged 7 or younger.

    Note: Owl and Granary can be rented together for up to 8 people, great for 2 parties wishing to holiday together but wanting some privacy on occasions.

    Recommended Places to Eat Out: White Swan, Newton-on-Rawcliffe - good quantities of reasonably priced home-made English food; Horseshoe, Levisham - a haven for 'Moors Walkers' in need of liquid and solid refreshment; New Inn, Cropton - with its own brewery; Blacksmith's Arms, Lastingham - more adventurous than your average pub food; White Swan, Pickering - haute cuisine at a slightly higher price (bring your best togs for evening dining or you'll not feel 'comfortable'); Spice 4 U, Pickering - terrific Indian restaurant; Eastgate Fisheries, Pickering - best fish'n'chips in the area (take away or eat in cafe).
