Middleton-on-the-Wolds’ real claim to fame is its proximity to the finishing post for the Kiplingcotes Derby, said to be the oldest horse race in the country. It takes place each March. Some reports say the first race was way back in 1519. This race, which has its own set of unusual rules, is extremely popular with spectators.
