The UK, simply the best place to be this week.

With the forecast of sunshine and good weather, taking a short break in the UK could be simply perfect this weekend.   Temperatures are predicted to reach around 29 degrees in some parts of Britain this week.  With such sunshine to hopefully look forward to, could there be any better place to holiday but at home in the UK?  Whatever you are doing, make the most of it and have a great time.  If your budget is limited and you can’t afford to go away, remember that many of the best things in life are free.  Go to your local park and immerse yourself in the greenery or enjoy a walk with loved ones.

Coming soon, new help feature

We will shortly be adding a new help section to our website aimed at making our site as easy to use for visitors as possible.  We already have an advanced search assistant to help you find what you are looking for quickly and easily and hope that you find this new feature useful especially with the high demand periods of Christmas and New Year coming up when people start looking for a large house or cottage for the festive season. Another popular request at this time of year is for secluded pet friendly cottages for 2 to escape the 5th of November.

Best kinds of self catering holidays

The summer holidays may now be a fading memory. Self catering breaks can be enjoyed all year round, even in the autumn months of October and November before the run up to Christmas.  Everyone has their own favourite time of year to go away for a much needed break.  The good thing about self catering breaks in late autumn or winter is the price. The very lowest prices are in January. just after New Year week.  On this site you can find many different types of self catering holidays in log cabins, houses, apartments, dogs welcome cottages and unusual properties, we hope you enjoy the selection and that you find the right cottage in the country to suit you.

Don’t miss your chance to vote for this years British Travel Awards winners

You’ve still got time to vote!  The closing date for votes this year is 30 September 2011, see the British Travel Awards website for details.  Recommend the best UK seaside resort or region for holidays.  Just think when the results are out, your recommendations may just help others choose their holiday destination for next year wisely.

Visiting local museums when taking a cottage break

Remember when visiting a new area that local museums can be a real mine of information.  Many contain fascinating photos and more.  One great bonus of going away in the UK is that a good number of museums offer free entry still, although local museums may need to charge a small entry fee.  Also remember that by visiting these places you are doing your bit to support the community.  If you are taking a self catering break in London you will be spoilt for choice when it comes to museums.  There is so much choice.  There are so many to explore and so many fascinating things to see.  Remember if you have any tips that would help others, let us have your feedback.  We love to hear reviews and recommendations.
