Lavenham is possibly one of the best well-preserved medieval towns in Suffolk, which originally built its wealth on the cloth trade. Its streets are lined with leaning colour-washed buildings and half-timbered houses in narrow streets. There is an impressive market place, pubs serving traditional English fare. Other medieval towns worth visiting in Suffolk are those of: Long Melford for antiwues and Melford Hall, Hadleigh, Boxford, Bildeston, Clare, Cavendish, Kersey, and Monks Eleigh.
