The town of Wellington can be found in Somerset in the south west of England, and is surrounded by picturesque rural scenery. Close to the border of Devon along the impressive Blackdown Hills, Wellington has a fairly large population of just over 13,000 people, and is great for a self-catering cottage break for those wishing to experience a lively settlement in Somerset. There is a rich history in Wellington as the town gave its name to the very first Duke of Wellington, Arthur Wellesley. The soaring triangular tower of the Wellington Monument commemorates this fact and is a Grade II listed structure owned by the National Trust. Wellington has plenty of amenities such as an array of shops, pubs and restaurants, grocery stores and supermarkets, and there is also the Wellington Museum which can be found on Fore Street and features fantastic exhibitions on the local industries of the town as well as significant people have a connection to Wellington.
