How would you like to stay in a charming country cottage just four miles away from Abergavenny in Wales? This lovely two bedroom cottage overlooks an idyllic rural scene of duck pond with a little bridge and irises growing around the edge of the water. This is a garden that ducks, pheasants and wildlife comes to visit. Could this be the rustic retreat your heart yearns for?

Country cottage with an eco-friendly heart
The cottage is built on two levels, the upper level contains the big open-plan living area and views over the countryside. There are eco-friendly aspects to this cottage, heat is extracted from a ground source and gently released as under-floor warmth to rise up through the house. A log burner also adds its own glow and heat to the living area.

The living area features exposed rafters under the eaves, pine floors and big leather sofas. This is where the kitchen is also located at one end of the room and a dining table offers a comfortable place to seat up to six people for meals.

Electric cooking facilities, a fridge freezer, dishwasher and washing machine are all included.

A king-size bedroom and a double bedroom are on the ground floor. There is a wet room which makes cleaning up after a shower child’s play. An additional two people or children can be accommodate don the sofabed in the living area if wished. The main bedroom has the unusual arrangement whereby a bath and washbasin actually stand in the bedroom and only a WC is in a separate cubicle.
A patio with seating and a barbecue is a good excuse to grill a few Welsh lamb chops or sausages.

Abergavenny is a short drive away from the holiday cottage. It stands encircled by hills on the River Usk. It is the best place to visit for shops and eateries. There is also a museum and various other attractions.

Drive through Abergavenny to get to the Brecon Beacons and more fantastic landscapes. To the east of the cottage is the Wye Valley, another outdoor playground for all ages.
