Surrounded by the wonders of the Snowdonia National Park, the old slate mining town of Blaenau Ffestiniog offers a selection of amenities including shops, pubs and restaurants, as well as the fascinating slate mines, a very popular attraction, where visitors can head deep underground for a taste of real mining history. The town is also home to the lovely narrow gauge Ffestiniog mountain railway which runs through Snowdonia to Porthmadog on the coast. Tour the regions castles and houses, conquer the mountains, take a stroll on the beaches or visit the unusual Portmeirion Italianate Village.
