People new to spas sometimes have strange notions about safety and the effects on skin. They are safe to use assuming that correct disinfection programmes are followed and guests do not flout the rules. Yes, you will end up looking like a prune after prolonged hours in a hot tub, and sun tan oil will leave an oil slick on the surface, which is why guests are requested not to use sun tan oil before wading in.

Indulging in the soothing warm water of a hot tub is pleasurable for most and beats meeting people down at the local pub because it reduces inhibitions. Hot tubs are rather like Marmite – people either love them or hate them. Most of us have happily climbed into a hot tub or Jacuzzi at the local swimming pool without a thought about hygiene or safety.

The bubbling and activity is timed for a periodand then it is a quick sprint into your self-catering cottage unless the weather is very warm.
