Northampton is a friendly market town, main administrative city for Northamptonshire. There is an impressive former guildhall that is worth admiring (now council offices) and several handsome period buildings.

There is a museum and art gallery across from the Guildhall.

A daily market is held in the enormous market square, the produce varies depending on the day of the week. The largest market is held on a Friday and Saturday.

There is a good shopping area around the high street with numerous shops including large chain stores. The PDSA run a clothing outlet for ex-store ladieswear including items from high class shops such as Monsoon at discount prices. There are plenty of eateries and coffee shops should you wish to meet up with friends.

You will find excellent transport links with Northampton which enable you to visit other places nearby should you wish to go for day trips. Warwick and Warwick Castle, Stratford upon Avon, Birmingham, the West Midlands, and many other places of interest are within a half-hour drive.
