Inverness in the Highlands of Scotland is an attractive town for a self catering cottage break.  Known as the Highland’s capital, there are a good number of attractions in and around Inverness.  Inverness itself is a small city with some grand buildings.  It benefits from a river flowing through it and a waterside location by the Moray Firth.  Nearby just outside Inverness is Loch Ness which is world famous due to the legends of the Loch Ness monster.  At Loch Ness you can take boat trips and also visit the ruins of Urquhart Castle which overlook the loch.  A visit to the tea shop at the castle comes highly recommended for the views.

Nearby Inverness in season at the Black Isle it is possible to take a dolphin watching trip.  This part of Scotland can be wonderful for wildlife watching and there are many interesting sea birds to look out for near Inverness.  Some of the Highlands of Scotland with their glorious glens, mountains and countryside are within travelling distance of Inverness.  Enjoy browsing for country cottages, self catering cottages and log cabins in and near Inverness.
