The Scottish Highlands are known for glorious glens, lochs and stunning Scottish scenery.  There are plenty opportunities for taking it easy and finding a bit of peace and tranquillity.  Or if you prefer enjoy one of the many activities on offer here from hill walking to mountain biking or fishing.  There are numerous whisky distilleries to be found in the Scottish Highlands, many are located near and around Inverness.  Castles in the Highlands include Urquhart Castle which lies at the edge of Loch Ness, Eilean Donan Castle which is probably the most recognisable Scottish castle near the Kyle of Lochalsh and Dunrobin Castle located in Sutherland in the Northern Highlands.

Overlooking the River Spey, in the Cairngorms National Park, Newtonmore has several shops and pubs, as well as the Newtonmore Craft Centre and two excellent, award-winning museums. The area offers fine golf, fishing, pony trekking, walking, bird-watching, cycling, mountain-biking, climbing and skiing, making it an ideal base from which to discover all that this scenic area of Scotland has to offer.
