Cottage rentals in Campbeltown, Argyll and Bute, Scotland
There is an information centre in Campbeltown which is worth visiting for useful hints and tips on things to do and places to go. Also worth a visit is the Campbeltown Heritage Centre which is open from April to September. At this centre you can learn more about historically important industries such as farming, fishing and whisky production. More of the region’s history is revealed by the ruins of Tarbert castle overlooking Loch Fyne and in the stunning 13th century castle at Skipness with its views over to the Isle of Arran.
Enjoy walks by the seafront whilst on a cottage holiday and take in the sea air or take a trek along one of the nature trails near Campbeltown. These trails can be great ways to encounter the region’s wildlife, which include golden eagles. Nature lovers should also head to the Machrihanish Bird Observatory which has great facilities for viewing unusual visiting birds and common seals. If you like to keep active whilst on a cottage break you may want to do some golfing. There are a number of courses along the peninsula including the Dunaverty Golf Club, the Machrihanish Golf Club, and the Machrihanish Dunes Club.
