Hot tubs are intended for adult use only and even then there are health restrictions. Pregnant ladies should not use them, nor people with heart problems. Inebriation and wine glasses in hot tubs are not the best combination in the world. Tourists are often requested to sign a disclaimer when renting a holiday home with a hot tub although there really is little need if people behave sensibly.

Relaxing in the warm massaging waters of a hot tub can be most soothing and is even a sociable activity if it is a large hot tub that can accommodate several people. Hot tubs are rather like Marmite – people either love them or hate them. Most of us have happily climbed into a hot tub or Jacuzzi at the local swimming pool without a thought about hygiene or safety.

The chances are that a hot tub with a cottage holiday is part of a leisure centre or a private one on the verandah, and the weather of Argyll and Bute is not that suitable for spending hours in a swim suit outside. The allotted time by hot tub manufacturers for each session is about half an hour. The bubbling and activity is timed for a periodand then it is a dashinto your holiday let unless the weather is very warm.

Most of us know not to expect wall to wall sunshine in Argyll and Bute. It is best to take that umbrella just in case.
