Gardenstown is a former fishing village on the north east coast of Scotland, a village of rugged stone built houses built around the harbour which was the main reason for the existence of the village historically. It is a place full of character and charm, often frequented by artists and photographers for coastal views. The cliffs and shores around the northern coast teem with birds and attract people who like to birdwatch or nature. Visit in May for masses of primroses.

There are north east coast tours, a castle trail and trips to whisky distilleries to see how malts are made.

Aberdeenshire in Scotland has a mostly rugged farming landscape which transcends in to a mountainous terrain at Deeside with the Grampian Mountains.  Some visit this area for the mountain walks and stunning mountain scenery whereas others come here for the coastline with sandy beaches and cliffs.  Others still visit for the castles.  Aberdeenshire is known as Castle Country on account of being home to at least 18 castles.  When it comes to an unspoilt landscape and natural beauty, Aberdeenshire certainly has this in abundance.

The village of Gardenstown was founded in 1720 as a fishing village. Gardenstown borders a small bay with stunning scenery flanking both sides. The neighbouring village of Banff boasts a relaxing sandy beach and Duff House, an impressive Georgian mansion open to visitors and home to paintings and artefacts from the National Galleries of Scotland. Banff also has a good selection of shops, restaurants and hotels which serve a fine selection of local sea foods.
