Derbyshire Cotterill Farm Cottages

Cotterill Farm consists of five cottages on a non-working farm in a superb but not remote central Peak District country location. Three cottages are for four persons, and the other two are equally large cottages but one (all on the ground floor and therefore particularly suitable for the less agile), sleeps three, and one sleeps only two. Despite consistent grading of 4 Stars, the owners never rest on their laurels, constantly trying to improve fitments, furnishings and services offered. (e.g. Three cottages have full Sky tv, the others freeview, and all have internet wireless broadband.) These are just examples, there are many other ways that things have been recently 'tweaked'! The cottages have exposed beams and stone-work. The cottages are 300 yards up a private drive and form part of a courtyard facing outwards over the surrounding fields and dales to give excellent views and some degree of privacy. In front of these cottages is a large grassed and garden area. There is ample area for off-road parking for all cottages. The spacious two person cottage has a galleried bedroom overlooking the large living room, in the centre of which is a log burner standing on a stone plinth acting as a focal point It also has a five piece suite in the top quality bathroom. Five award winning stone 4 Star cottages on our non-working farm, in a glorious location overlooking dales and rolling countryside in the heart of the White Peak area of the Peak District. Buxton , Matlock, Bakewell, Ashbourne, Leek and Chatsworth House are all about 11 miles away on the edge of the Peak District at different points on the compass, confirming the owners claim to be very much in the heart of the White Peak area of the Peak District. (The White Peak is the area of rolling countryside, dales, streams and rivers limestone villages and dry-stone walls, which give the area so much character). Alton Towers is less than 30 minutes drive away. One two bedroomed cottage still available over New Year which has the benefit of full sky tv and Wi-Fi Internet

Derbyshire Hillside Croft and Billys Bothy

  Billy's Bothy is a beautiful 5 star silver and gold award country cottage providing visitors with a quality self catering cottage near the Peak District. Located in a quiet and peaceful rural setting within 10 acres of grounds of our grade II listed farmhouse, 2 miles from the pretty historic market town of Ashbourne.This lovely cottage is built of old handmade red bricks with an abundance of pine beams and revealed brick walls throughout. The ground floor windows are a pretty feature with elegantly curved arches over old sty openings. This unusual self catering cottage has 2 ground floor double bedrooms and 1 twin bedroom all en-suite. The floors have underfloor heating and heated towel rails keeping them snug all year around. On the first floor are two more double bedrooms one with en-suite shower and the other with an en suite bathroom. The total sleeping capacity is for 10 in actual full size beds. The lounge has a double quality bed settee, with private entrance to shared en-suite bathroom. Two fold up Z beds can be supplied giving a total sleeping capacity of 10+ 4 + 2 travel cots. An extra 6th ensuite bedroom can be hired which adjoins the cottage, this room also has a TV, cinema screen and sauna.The main entrance is on the ground floor in the centre of the house with feature stairs leading up to a magnificent galleried kitchen. The oak staircase and oak front door and surround make a wonderful feature to the cottage entrance and can be viewed from almost all rooms within the cottage. The farmhouse style kitchen furnished with hand made pine units with granite worktops is extremely well equipped and a pleasure to use. The spacious lounge with cosy log stove is on the 1st floor and opens out through a magnificent oak framed entrance onto a patio with cottage garden and well stocked orchard. Patio furniture and BBQ are provided for your relaxation and entertainment. The lounge has 4 comfortable quality settees giving ample seating for all guests. A TV with freeview is provided for your enjoyment with Video and DVD, a Hi Fi is also provided .   The dining room is a delight for those intimate meals with friends and family, our large dining table will comfortably seat all guests. New Farm Cottage, with its exclusive use of heated indoor pool and sauna, is situated in the beautiful Vale of Belvoir, on a working arable farm. The 4 bedroomed cottage can sleep up 9 adults plus a child in a cot. It features a lounge with colour TV and DVD player, a large dining room, a fitted kitchen with a fridge and deep freeze, electric cooker, automatic washing machine, tumble dryer, ironing facilities, microwave, coffee maker, a children's play room with tables and chairs, board games, a large blackboard etc. A high chair and stair gate are provided. The 'Manor House Stables' has been beautifully restored with natural earth-friendly materials using traditional methods.  Dating back to the 18th Century this Grade II Listed Stable Block now forms 2 units of qualitiy self-catering accommodation which can be rented separately or together.The ‘Hayloft’ is the newly restored first floor and is warm, welcoming and relaxing, with a wood- burning stove and cast iron radiators fed by a wood pellet boiler. The walls are insulated with battens of cotton and hemp and boards made of wood fibre whilst natural breathable paints and wood stains have been used on floors, doors and window frames. The large open plan living/kitchen area has exposed beams, lime-washed walls and real wood floors covered in braided wool rugs and recycled cotton mats. The sofa and chair coverings are cotton and linen – fabrics which are soft and natural and colours which are warm and earthy. A 26” HD ready TV and DVD/CD player and a selection of games, books and DVDs are all available for cosy nights in front of the fire. The kitchen is equipped with a Belfast sink, Rangemaster cooker, dishwasher, microwave, toaster and kettle as well as a range of quality kitchenware. A basket of organic veg freshly picked from the garden (or purchased from the local organic farm shop) awaits, along with other food items to ensure a relaxed and carefree break. Tucked away in a corner of the main room is a double 'box bed' - a bed boxed in by wood and enclosed by a curtain similar to those found in old-fashioned crofters' cottages and suitable for 2 children. The main bedroom has a double cast iron bed, small fireplace and a little en-suite bathroom with toilet and sink.
