Dorset The Old Rectory

A very fine Grade II* Georgian Rectory. It is set in grounds of about one and a half acres with large lawns and flower gardens to the east and south which are suitable for croquet and knockabout tennis games. Beyond the gardens is a beautiful valley with views to the sea cliffs and downlands. This interesting thatched cottage, restored to the highest standard, with the accent on character, won the Island Conservation Award for 2006. It is situated within the grounds of an historic manor house in 60 acres of beautiful downland with splendid views, in an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. At the entrance gate there is a large pond, so sit here for a while and feed the ducks. A bridle path leads to a network of footpaths and bridle paths that run across the island. You are welcome to bring your own horse, carriage and horse box, and enjoy the superb out-riding from the property. Alternatively, you might enjoy metal detecting on this site where there has been a house since the 13th century. Thatched 2 bedroom cottage with its own garden, and patio area with a BBQ, where you can sit and hear nothing but the birds. Kent The Gun Emplacement

The Gun Emplacement is the nearest house to France. It's perched on the cliff top on Lighthouse Down, the National Trust's protected coastal expanse, which has come to be known as The White Cliffs. The house was built by the Army in 1910, Sir Peter Ustinov was billeted there during the Second War and he bought it from the Ministry of Defence in 1946. I bought it in 1977 and have used it as my seaside home.In 2000, it was extensively renovated inside and out and is now a very comfortable though not luxurious one-storey, centrally-heated residence in a unique location, with uninterrupted views across the Channel to Calais, gardens back and front and offers total peace in glorious unspoiled countryside. There is even an airing cupboard to keep linen warm. The cottage can sleep 1-7 people. 7 night lets only from Saturday to Saturday only.

Accomodation West Hayes Barn has been superbly converted and the accomodation is very attractive and spacious. The kitchen/breakfast room has a beautiful oak floor and is very well equipped. There is an open plan feel to the living areas downstairs with the oak flooring continuing into the sitting room. This is a very comfortable room with a wood burning stove. Downstairs is a twin bedded room, the beds can linked to make a six foot double. There is also a stylish modern bathroom downstairs. Upstairs is a simply stunning bedroom with a five foot king-size bed and an additional full size single with an ensuite shower room. Outside is a large Mediterranean style entertaining area, with attractive outdoor furniture and barbeque, leading to a safe and secure lawned garden. The barn has lovely views across our fields and whatever animals are keeping the grass down.
