Whipsnade Wild Animal Park, only 10 minutes drive in the car, and the beautiful National Trust Ashridge Forest and Ivinghoe Beacon with fantastic views and many different walks for all abilities. Woburn Safari Park and Woburn Abbey - 15 minutes away. The centuries old village of Aldbury, just below Ashridge, with it’s famous stocks is well worth a visit.
Lane Cottages are recently renovated servants quarters that formed part of the estate of a village squire in the 1700s. Located on a private drive they have their own car park and attractive walled garden. They are close to the historic county town of Chester with is quaint rows that are a shopper's paradise. The cottages are particularly well equipped and are very comfortable with beamed ceilings and period furniture. Orchards Apartment (sleeps 4) has a spacious feel with large rooms. Plenty of storage space with enough room for outdoor gear, boots etc. Everything but the twin bedroom is at ground level. Accommodation: lounge (bay window, living flame gas fire set in an original marble fireplace, TV, stereo and video), double bedroom with a wrought iron bed and a triple wardrobe, kitchen (lots of fitted units, dining table, electric cooker, fridge/freezer, microwave, auto washer and dryer) and stairs leading up to the twin bedroom. Through the kitchen is another hallway that leads to the bathroom (bath with electric shower over, basin and wc).
