The Tallow Factory is a beautiful 16th century timber-framed cottage in the heart of Dedham village. It was featured in a BBC programme on holiday cottages in England.The historic village of Dedham lies on the Essex-Suffolk border surrounded by miles of unspoilt countryside.Downstairs there is a spacious dining/ living room with a stereo system and working fireplace. Despite being so close to London this county is very rural and until very recently rather inaccessible, this has helped preserve the lovely rural qualities and the tiny villages and hamlets that spread out across a spiders web of barely chartered byroads and country lanes. These beautiful villages are one of the great attractions for visitors to Suffolk, often beautifully preserved in all their Medieval splendour and many containing a rich history of the early pilgrims to America, in this tiny hamlet of Edwardstone the first future Govenor of Massachusetts set off to America. The grove cottages, which were formerly dairies, bakery’s and two farm workers cottages are built in a Monastic style ‘double quadrangle’, the buildings all date back to the early 17 hundreds, when they serviced a long lost Mansion House. Suffolk The Old Forge

The Old Forge is situated in the heart of an attractive conservation village and area of Redgrave on the borders of Norfolk and Suffolk. It is a beautiful Georgian cottage which has been sympathetically restored to a very high standard. Original period features include inglenook fireplaces, brick floors, heavily beamed and feature bread/faggot ovens. There is a 100ft established country garden to the rear, which is enclosed when the gates are shut. There is a small drive for 1 car and on street parking. Redgrave has a rich history, and former residents of the village include the 16th/17th century philosopher and statesman Francis Bacon.
