Extensive wooden flooring, beams and period features are complemented by leather furniture and a luxurious four poster bed with drapes. Spend a day exploring the heritage coast and return to the warmth of Smithy cottage, enjoy a glass of wine, a board game or a DVD as you relax by the woodburning stove.

On a fine day set out the garden furniture, light the barbecue or relax with a book on our very secluded patio garden or wander 50 yards from the cottage to observe the wildlife on the picturesque village mere. Grindale itself is ideally situated for touring the Yorkshire wolds, moors, and east coast. Only 4 miles from the popular seaside resort of Bridlington with its busy harbour, award winning beaches and its grand Edwardian Promenade and historic old town. Filey and Scarborough are a short drive away. All offer an exciting range of facilities including the famous sea life centre at Scarborough, the historic castle set in a commanding position on the cliff top, theatres, spa and coastal cruises. A short drive from the famous cliffs of Bempton, an RSPB reserve popular with birdwatchers and less the 8 miles from Flamborough and the beautiful heritage coast. Explore caves, the nature reserve at Danes Dyke with beach access, climb to the top of ancient lighthouses and eat at one of the many local inns and seafood restaurants. Grindale is situated on the Scarborough to Bridlington cycle loop, miles of quiet roads to explore on route. Park at the church in the nearby village of Speeton and a short walk takes you down to magnificent golden sands guarded by the towering white chalk cliffs which stretch to Filey, a quiet seaside resort famous for its Brigg which you can access at low tide. Take your small hammer and enjoy fossiling at nearby Reighton or take your surfboard to the fabulous beach at Cayton Bay and ride the waves.

If you enjoy visiting stately homes ride the small cliff top scenic land train from Bridlington to Sewerby Hall and enjoy afternoon tea in its cliff top gardens whilst enjoying one of its legendary summer events. Try your hand at bowling or pitch and putt while the children enjoy the small zoo and adventure playground. Get lost in the maze at Burton Agnes Hall and picnic in the spacious grounds of Burnby Hall gardens. Extensive information on the surrounding area is available at the cottage.
