Upton Warren for a Peaceful Break: Surrounded by unspoilt countryside and with attractive tree-lined streets, Upton Warren is a tranquil place in which to enjoy a country holiday. This Worcestershire village is situated on the River Salwarpe and Anglers fish for chub, perch and pike here, amongst others. The village church of St. Michael’s is a Grade II listed building, much of it rebuilt in the 18th century and containing oak panelling around the walls. For families interested in bird watching or simply enjoying the scenery, the Christopher Cadbury Wetland Reserve is worth a visit with its population of spring migrant birds and overwintering birds. This nature reserve, which has several hides, is managed by the Worcestershire Wildlife Trust. Visitors may spot bitterns, oystercatchers and avocets and many more birds, as well as animals such as water vole and otters. Non-members of the Trust must obtain a day permit to visit. For town amenities, Bromsgrove is close by. If you want live entertainment or to see a movie whilst on your self-catering break, the town’s Artrix Arts Centre is an excellent venue, with a 300-seat auditorium.
