Stable Door Wheelwright Cottage - Shipston-on-Stour,

The village of Shipston on Stour still has many former coaching inns and ancient buildings in the High Street. The wealth of the town was built on the processing of wool in the 15th century and reminders of that period can still be found such as Sheep Street.

The River Stour gently meanders through the town and surrounding green and pleasant countryside. Sheep used to be driven into the Stour for washing prior to shearing. Richly decorated tapestries were once woven in the little hamlet of Barcheston near Shipton on Stour. These are priceless nowdays and are sometimes known as Sheldon Tapestries after the Sheldon Family business. A rare 13ft by 18 ft tapestry map of Warwickshire dated 1588 can be viewed hanging in Warwick Museum, other examples are in the V&A Museum in London and York Museum.

This self-catering accommodation is on the Shakespeare Way footpath and is perfect for 2 to 4 people walking the footpath and exploring Shakespeare Country or the Cotswolds together. Additional people can be accommodated in the B&B in the same grounds.
