You will be spoilt for choice for things to do in Arundel!  It is a historic market town, with the castle sitting in a prominent position overlooking the surrounding beautiful countryside.  The Castle, home to the Duke and Duchess of Norfolk, with its Keep, Castle grounds and chapel are well worth a full days' visit.  Visitors young and not so young are very well catered for with clear information and displays, and also good food in the very pleasant restaurant.  The grounds are often the temporary home to interesting and unusual sculptures, and during the festival fortnight in August, plays and concerts are held here.

Arundel is the home to Sussex cricket club, and the castle makes a wonderful backdrop to a day spent in the sunshine watching a match!

The town itself has many small and unusual shops, including shops selling tasty local produce.  There is also plenty of choice for places to eat out, ranging from small tea shops, to pubs serving better than average food and smart restaurants.  There is a farmers' market on the 3rd Saturday of each month in The Square.

While in Arundel on a sunny day, hiring a rowing boat on Swanbourne lake is a relaxing way of passing the time - alternatively fish for trout at Chalk Springs Trout Fishery.  The whole family will enjoy the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust Conservation Centre, home to many a species of unusual waterfowl, and nearby Amberley Working Museum, which features craftsmen at work, vintage bus rides, narrow guage railway and nature trails.

The Arundel Festival in August features open air performances of Shakespeare, Opera and modern popular music, while the fringe festival features small performances on the street and in people's homes. The gallery trail is great fun - for one weekend many homes and gardens in Arundel are open to the public to wander in, and look at the variety of artwork and sculpture on display.
