Holmwood Cottage is a lovely 16th Century thatched cottage. It has a double bedroom with a second twin/double bedroom leading off from it.  The bedrooms have cosy beds and wonderful original broad Elmwood floors. The fully equipped kitchen has an ancient Suffolk brick floor and seats 6 at the table. There is a very pretty beamed sitting room with lots of room to relax in and enjoy the charms of an unspoilt 16th Century beamed and thatched cottage. The ‘completely new’ bathroom is situated downstairs and has a bath and a separate shower. Beautiful Persian carpets and rugs show off the charm of the original features in this lovingly restored cottage.

Outside there is a large patio overlooking the pretty ‘cottage garden’. At the side there is a small shallow pond which encourages wildlife and at the back there is a second pretty evening 'Sun Deck' with BBQ facilities. The garden is enclosed and there is a gated courtyard for 2 cars to park in, this has access straight to the garden. Bikes are freely provided, including one with a child’s seat - The South Suffolk Cycle Route runs close to the cottage. If you visit us at The Grove farm just 4 miles away you can also hire one of my 4 seater professional canoes to explore the river Stour. The cottage is situated in a small cluster of 5 cottages and a pub with the picturesque village of Kersey just down the lanes behind it and the lovely village of Polstead - the best lunchtime pub snacks and prettiest walks - down the lanes on the other side.

South Suffolk is a very unspoilt and rural area even though it is so close to London and the Midlands. It is defined by The River Stour which was immortalised by the Master Painter John Constable and by the Suffolk coast where hidden inlets, where Vikings raided (Sutton Hoo) and where heathlands sweep down to the sea. The immediate area is a maze of tiny lanes meandering through tiny Suffolk Pink Hamlets and Villages. An ideal place to relax in and discover unspoilt England.
