Twee Gebroeders (Two Brothers) is an 1897 Dutch sailing barge, luxuriously refitted in 2010 to offer elegant waterside living for 4. She is a static barge and has a permanent mooring on the River Waveney at Burgh St Peter marina on the Southern Norfolk Broads. She makes an ideal base from which to explore the Broads, Southwold and the Suffolk coast, Gt Yarmouth and the beaches at Lowestoft.

The accomodation consists of a galley and saloon with gorgeous red range cooker, and solid wooden joinery. The saloon area has an upholstered seating unit, dining table, flat screen TV, HI-FI and DVD player and doors outside to the cockpit. The double bedroom is a romantic cabin with portholes all round, luxury linens, and solid wood furniture. The twin is a cosy room ideal for children with standard 2'6 beds, TV and playstation. There is a luxury shower room with handmade Dutch tiles and a really good shower.

Outside the barge has an open cockpit with seating for 6 and room for a BBQ onboard!

A Mad River Adventure canoe is included for those who fancy exploring the Broads, but if you are looking for something that requires a little less effort then day boats can be hired from the Waveney River Centre.

Full use of the Waveney River Centre heated pool is also included (OPEN ALL YEAR)

LAUNDRY ROOM AVAILABLE AT THE WAVENEY RIVER CENTRE

The well fitted interior is divided into 4 seperate cabins; a light and airy saloon and galley with white walls and solid iroko joinery throughout with a gorgeous red aga style range taking pride of place and providing cooking and central heating. There is a twin cabin with 2'6 beds, a chest of drawers and a playstation for the kids if the weather should turn wet. The luxury shower room has a corner shower, vanity basin and domestic style loo and the walls are covered in handmade Delft tiles specially painted with Suffolk Avocets. The double bedroom is a romantic space with turned porthole rings, Italian lighting and bespoke dressing table and hanging space. All bedding, linen and towels are provided and have been chosen to provide a luxurious country feel. All the beds are full length and there is ample storage. The barge has oil fired central heating and double glazing and as far as possible everything on board is as you would find in a domestic property.

Outside, you will find a very large rear cockpit with doors leading out from the saloon. This has teak seating for 6 and a removable table for summer evening dining and drinks. There are side decks if you want to go forward or up on the roof for fishing or sunbathing. The view from the cockpit is over the marina and out onto the River Waveney - ideal to watch the boats or wildlife come and go. A 4 man family canoe is available for use and if you fancy exploring further afield on the Broads day boats can be hired from the Waveney river centre. Facilities on site include a swimming pool complex which is open all year, a pub, and a shop.

The Norfolk Broads are fully accessible from here with tranquil riverside villages such as Horning and nature reserves at Ranworth Broad. Beccles is a lovely little market town with a good selection of local shops and Southwold and the Suffolk coast are only 45 minues away. Norwich with its good range of shops and castle is 40 minutes away.

Beccles

Beccles is a lovely little market town on the River Waveney. It has a good selection of independant shops and cafes, a museum, and picturesque quay area where visitors can moor or hire a boat or just watch the activity on the river.
