Sherwood Mews Cottage - Edwinstowe,

Edwinstowe is a pretty village in Nottinghamshire where cricket is played on the village green and community spirit still thrives. Various holiday related organisations e.g. Center Parcs have a presence in Sherwood Forest and the area is recognised as an outdoor playground. Hire a mountain bike and follow the forest trails.

This is former mining country. The remnants of closed mines are still evident in certain areas. the 2nd tallest headstocks in the country still stand at Clipstone, just 3 miles away. The slag heaps of Clipstone have been given a new lease of life as lakes surrounded by hills.    There is a network of cycle paths that joins up with a national network. As mining became consigned to history, mining museums and tourist attractions have grown. There are plenty of places to visit in the area. If you have a car, Southwell Minster and the fascinating National Trust Workhouse are under half an hour's drive away, as is the market town of Newark with its antique shops and riverside walks. Mansfield and Nottingham are also within easy distance by car or bus.  This part of Nottinghamshire sports an abundance of golf courses, Rufford Park golf centre is just over a mile away.

For anyone who has never visited Nottinghamshire, the local people are warm at heart, affectionately referring to other people as 'duck'. Old English customs such as Maypole dancing and Morris dancing can be seen on May Day and festivals.  The pubs, shops and markets offer great value for money.

We invite you to come and visit Edwinstowe and Nottinghamshire for an interesting and happy self-catering break.

Sleeping comfortably 4 people. A main double bedroom found on the first floor with a galleried view overlooking the accomodation below, a comfortable single bedroom and a convertable sofa bed in the lounge for additional guests.
