A northern retreat that’s ideal for a romantic break for two. Located in the village of Edmundbyers near to Consett in County Durham, Wayside Cottage is a stone built end terraced cottage that retains period charm. The property sleeps up to 4 people and has one king-size double bedroom with a dressing room dressing room and en-suite bathroom with bath, shower over, basin and WC. This could be the cottage you are seeking for that special romantic break. Also in the property are a well-equipped fitted kitchen and a sitting room with a double sofabed, a dining area and a warming woodburning stove. One well behaved dog is welcome to join you at the cottage. A patio area with outdoor furniture provides space for al fresco drinks or dining. There is roadside parking for two cars. It’s a great base for discovering the beautiful countryside being nestled in the foothills of The North Pennines with heather moorlands, fields of grazing cattle and sheep, streams and woodland all around. County Durham, the north Yorkshire Dales and Northumberland are all also ripe for exploration. Wayside Cottage is a lovely cottage in a wonderful area.

Roadside parking for 2 cars. One well behaved dog is most welcome. Sorry, no smoking. Shop and pub 2 minutes' walk.

Edmundbyers is a traditional village situated south of the River Derwent, in the foothills of The North Pennines. From the village of Edmundbyers there are plenty of opportunities for walking, cycling, golfing, sailing, fishing and simply appreciating the quiet natural beauty. Only four miles away is the delightful village of Blanchland. Dating back to 1165, Blanchland is reputed to be one of the prettiest villages in England, famous for being the film location for many of the Catherine Cookson novels.
