Thinking of a break in the country? Northamptonshire is a largely rural area with miles and miles of beautiful green countryside. Northamptonshire is well located for self catering short breaks from London with Northampton being just an hour by train from London Euston. If you enjoy visiting large country houses whilst taking a cottage break, there are a number of attractive mansion houses to visit in Northamptonshire, many of which are National Trust properties. In terms of family attractions there is a steam railway, Gullivers Land for children aged two to thirteen at Milton Keynes and Salcey Forest near Northampton with its tree top walk where you can get a birds eye view of the forest floor. Whatever you enjoy doing on a self catering holiday, if you want a country break then Northamptonshire should be a good choice for you.
