Located in the historic market town of Thetford in Norfolk, The Gaolhouse is part of a converted former gaol that retains many original features. The sympathetically restored cottage boasts an elegant double bedroom, an attractive twin (with an ensuite and) a family bathroom. The cottage is also comprised of a well-appointed kitchen, a smart dining room, a sitting room and a study with single bed and spiral stairs which descend to the former dungeon! Outside the cottage is a small enclosed courtyard garden furnished with outdoor seating. All the family will enjoy the unusual aspect of the property, which has kept the original cell doors and added a glass viewing slab in the floor allowing a peek into the dungeon below. Nearby Thetford Forest Park is an ideal place for nature lovers and walkers and boasts a range of entertainments for children. This unusual and fascinating holiday cottage is an ideal base for exploring the region's history and heritage sites, its quiet gardens, open parkland and relaxing riverside..

Thetford is a Norfolk market town bordering Suffolk. Just a short drive from the town is Thetford Forest, Britain's largest pine forest with nature reserve and the Peddars Way National Trail. Families, walkers and cyclists will enjoy High Lodge Forest Centre offering excellent trails for all abilities and children will enjoy the Squirrel Maze. For the brave, there is the high rope course of Go Ape. Further afield is Grimes Grave Flint Mines and Cockley Cley Iceni Village.
