The Smithy - Hurst Green, Lancashire, England

The Smithy has oil-fired central heating, a fully fitted kitchen with dishwasher and washing machine. There is a large lounge and separate dining room. The cottage sleeps six in comfort with three double/twin bedrooms, one with en-suite, and a house bathroom. The cottage is ideal for visitors to Stonyhurst College and is perfect as a base for a holiday exploring the beautiful surroundings of the Ribble Valley. In this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty there are countless footpaths and walks to enjoy, long and short, and interesting places to visit – Clitheroe with its Norman Keep and museums, Whalley Abbey, Pendle Hill and its surrounding villages, steeped in the history of the Pendle Witches. This predominantly farming area is also famous for food – there are excellent local producers of meat and cheese, a micro brewery close by at Bashall Town and the many independent provenders in nearby Clitheroe make shopping for food a delight. Local restaurateurs pride themselves in using the local produce too and you’ll find good places to eat out, whether you fancy a bar snack or a full gourmet menu.
