Cot Cottage - Symonds Yat, Herefordshire, England

The Cot is situated near the top of Great Doward and is reached via a single track lane with plenty of passing places. There is a gated sloping drive leading to the car park area and then 18 stairs will take you down to the ‘start’ of the property grounds.

The property has been tastefully refurbished to a high standard with lots of home comforts. There is a wood burner in the dining room and a real fire in the lounge, together with electric night storage heating to provide all year round warmth.

Entering through the solid wood front door there is an attractive hallway with beautiful parquet flooring and a newly fitted wooden staircase. To either side of the hallway are two new Bristol Casement wood and decorative glass doors leading to the Sitting and Dining Rooms. The Sitting Room, is snug, cosy and bright with a window to the valley views. The fireplace in the living room has been enhanced by the addition of a Forest of Dean stone hearth and surround. The Dining Room has a fireplace fitted with a new wood burning stove and an archway leads through to the Kitchen.

The Kitchen is a good size and has a rustic country style. It has a light and airy feel with dual aspect windows providing stunning views of the Wye Valley below. It is well equipped with cooker, microwave, fridge, dishwasher and washing machine.

The cottage has a private driveway and parking for two to three vehicles with use of a detached single garage for storage. The footpath to the cottage is reminiscent of a Hansel and Gretel woodland walk and is particularly pretty, however it does descend quite steeply down to the cottage and is a combination of both steps and pathways through the trees with views down the valley (as are many of the cottages in this scenic area). Upon reaching the Cottage there is an section of flat lawned area. The front of the cottage has a patio/sun terrace looking down over the front garden and again with simply stunning views. The front garden is steep and has further terracing and steps. A variety of shrubs intersperse the garden areas with strategically placed seating etc.

We provide anti allergenic pillows and pillow/mattress protectors - but please let us know if you prefer to bring your own pillows, linen etc.

A complimentary welcome pack is supplied. Duvets, bed linen, towels are supplied. Electricity, LPG cooking gas and logs for the wood burner are also suppied free of charge.
