Thousand Acres is a period, detached Cotswold stone house situated in 9 acres with far reaching views, indoor swimming pool for exclusive use of guests, sauna, indoor hot tub and tennis court. The property has been lovingly refurbished, with six bedrooms, two of which have four posters. The house can sleep up to 14 people, up to 20 for extra charges. Outside there is a croquet lawn and formal garden as well as a secluded well furnished patio with large gas barbecue and patio heaters. Inside there is a kitchen extensively equipped for the serious cook, a games room with pool table, formal drawing and dining rooms – the latter with a grand piano Little extras are the Bose sound system throughout the ground floor, fluffy towels and bathrobes and Cotswold Lavender toiletries. Thousand Acres is a lovely six bedrooms, four bathrooms manor house nestled in the Cotswold Hills. Its 9.3 acres include formal lawns, a croquet lawn, a Victorian walled garden, paddocks and woodland. The house itself has an indoor swimming pool, sauna and hot tub with gym equipment and a pool table whilst in the grounds there is the croquet lawn, tennis court, a children’s trampoline and swings and clay pigeon shooting by arrangement which is very local. Thousand Acres was once the home of Dame Joan Evans a respected author who described the house as “being compact, solid and with a good garden and wide views over all the vale of Severn to the hills of Wales”. It is a house designed for luxurious country living incorporating all modern facilities. It is perfect for family holidays, reunions or a special celebration break.

The house is located on the outskirts of Wotton-under-edge and there are many attractions and facilities near by of which a few are listed below: Riding locally with a large number of bridal ways Woodland walks in National Trust areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty Golf at excellent local club by prior arrangement as guest of the owners. Local pubs with excellent home cooked food and secluded locations Westonbirt Arboretum which has an extensive programme of concerts and activities Cheltenham, Bath and Bristol all within 40 minutes drive Cheltenham and Bath both have good regional theatres & various literary and music festival Bristol Hippodrome has a programme including the ballet, opera and West End shows Many local houses of interest: Highgrove; Sudeley Castle; Chavenage; Dyrham Park; Woodchester Manor to name but a few. The house has been extensively and lovingly restored retaining the period features. The kitchen is fitted to the very highest standards with custom units and marble worktops and large family area. There are four bedrooms on the main floor – two en-suite four poster bed rooms and two double rooms sharing a family bathroom. There are two further triple rooms on the top floor with a shared bathroom. All bedrooms have fluffy towels, bathrobes and bathrooms carry a range of toiletries.

The Cotswold is an area full of picturesque villages with quaint little shops and tea-rooms and character local pubs. There is the Cotswold Water Park for all water sports. Quality shopping in towns like: Bath, Cheltenham, Clifton Village in Bristol and Tetbury. Good local spas and golf courses. Dry ski slopes in Gloucester and the Mendips and many local riding stables.

Travel: Kemble station is 20 mins away, served by London trains, 1hr 10mins from Paddington. Nearest Airports are Heathrow, Bristol or Birmingham

Good places to visit: Cheltenham races, Bath, Forest of Dean, Burford Wildlife Park, Oxford, the seaside at Weston-Super-Mare, Stow-on the Wold and Broadway, Westonbirt Arboretum, Slimbridge bird reserve.

Good places to eat: There is a selection of pubs and restaurants within walking distance in Wotton-under-edge. Recommended local pubs are the New Inn at Waterley Bottom, The Rose and Crown at Nympsfield and the George at Frocester. Calcot Manor is very near and there is a two star Michelin restaurant in Cheltenham – The Champignon Sauvage and some lovely hotel restaurants in Tetbury at the Close and Snooty Fox.
