Bakers Mill Farm is a 17th century working farm situated in the beautiful, tranquil Axe valley, within the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty of West Dorset, perfect for a relaxing break, yet easy distance from the hisoric market towns, picturesque villages and jurassic coast. We are conveniently situated for meals at The Wild Garlic in Beaminster - of Matt Follas fame and events at River Cottage. The cottages are dog friendly and there are a couple of long distance paths and many walks from the cottages.

Bakers Mill Farm Holiday Cottages  - Beaminster,

Wildlife abounds on the 200 acre farm, and you can see rabbits, foxes, badgers and deer, which can frequently be seen grazing near the cottages. There is an abundance of birdlife too with heron, geese, ducks, swans and buzzards all inhabiting the farm, along with many smaller species.

Our Grade II listed stone barn sleeps 6 in 3 bedrooms, one with king size hand carved four poster, the other two rooms being twin bedded. All have en-suites. We have 4 terraced cottages sleeping 3 in one and 2 in each of the other 3. We can sleep 15 in total with 2 cots and a chair bed too. All our accomodation is centrally heated for year round holidays, and all have fully equipped fitted kitchens, and distinctive cottage interiors. All our accomodation is situated in a courtyard, featuring a rill leading to a small pond. A games room with snooker, table tennis, table football,darts and toys for small children, books, maps and wireless broadband is situated in the courtyard along with a laundry with drying and ironing facilities to compliment the washing machines in the cottages. Pets are welcome - there are plenty of walks from the door. Nearby we have our own private Coarse fishing lakes for your use.

Thomas Hardy Countryside, World Heritage Jurassic Coast, handy for River Cottage events, several historic towns in the area, stately homes and gardens, llama trekking.

Travel: Crewkerne 4 miles

Good places to visit: Abbotsbury Swannery, Chesil Beach for fossils, lots of pretty seaside resorts on Dorset coast such as Lyme Regis, Charmouth, Bridport and West Bay, Dorchester, Weymouth.

Annual Events: 30 minutes drive from Weymouth for Olympic events in 2012.

Good places to eat: Many local pubs with local home made produce. The Wild Garlic at Beaminster - of Matt Follas fame, River Cottage canteen

Local Sports: Coarse fishing on our own lakes a short drive from the cottages or a nice dog walk away. Take a picnic and enjoy the view down the valley. Golf, Horse Riding and Clay Pigeon Shooting and the sea with its facilities are about 30 minutes drive.

Beaminster

Beaminster is a small bustling market town with more than 200 listed buildings. Cafes and restaurants including The Wild Garlic of Matt Follas fame. The local village of Mosterton is a mile distant down a country lane with a convenience shop/post office and thriving village pub welcoming dogs and children.
