The town of Plymouth really does have something for everyone! Surrounded by Dartmoor's rugged beauty and the south Devon coast, this vibrant city seamlessly combines maritime history, cosmopolitan vivacity and natural splendour, all in one place. With a wonderful maze of narrow streets, shops, art galleries and restaurants, it’s easy to see why this is such a popular tourist destination. The city’s maritime history can be seen at the Barbican quayside, as well as the Hoe - one of the world's finest natural harbours and where Francis Drake allegedly played bowls as the Armada sailed into view. If you’re looking for a change from the usual seaside attractions, then why not visit the Plymouth Gin distillery, the Theatre Royal or the National Marine Aquarium. With boat trips around the Sound and Naval dockyards too, it’s unlikely that anyone could get bored on a trip to this historic city.
