Our historic 500 year old Grade II* listed Devon longhouse and it superb collection of flint and thatched cottages surrounded by original cobbled paths are quintessentially Devon. Our cottages invite you to sample life in the enchanting and peaceful hamlet of Beacon, at the foot of National Trust’s Dumpdon Hill, nestling in the Blackdown Hills, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, this is pastoral English countryside at its best and looks almost the same today as it did hundreds of years ago. Red Doors Farm is a perfect retreat for family holidays or as a relaxing hideaway for couples. Our seven cottages sleep between 2 – 8 guests which ensure that you will never feel overcrowded. All seven cottages are individually furnished and maintained to an extremely high standard and are all graded 5* by the Tourist Board. Red Doors Farm feels totally of the beaten track but is yet so accessible, enjoying splendid views across the Otter Valley. We are 3 miles from the historic market town of Honiton, with its twice weekly street markets and many antique shops, 30 minutes from Exeter or Taunton and the glorious beaches of East Devon and the Jurassic coastline are within 10 miles.
Our delightful and spacious open planned gardens offer the perfect haven for family enjoyment, together with privacy, peace and serenity for our couples’ cottages. You may find it hard to leave Red Doors, however, we hope you take the opportunity to explore this beautiful corner of Devon, with its unspoilt southern coastline of pretty villages and smuggler’s coves together with sandy beaches, ideal for children.
Exmouth is popular for its long sandy beach and wading in the shallows at low tide exploring the rock pools. Lyme Regis is great for fossil hunting, relaxing on the beach or sea fishing for mackerel. Sidmouth and Seaton provide the traditional seaside retreat, perfect for a stroll along the front with an ice cream or a cream tea at one of the many tea rooms and restaurants. The area is superb for walking. You can enjoy traditional Devon countryside and far reaching views right from our doorstep or why not try the South West coastal path or explore the wilds of Dartmoor or Exmoor. Fine National Trust houses, gardens and castles, wonderful adventure parks, wildlife parks, farms and steam railways all within easy reach. There are a number of challenging golf courses in the local area or have a try at pony trekking.
