The Stone Barn - Holsworthy,

The Stone Barn is a large, luxury eco barn conversion in its own private enclosed garden and courtyard, located at the heart of Beer Mill Nature Trails. The Stone barn sleeps up to 10 +2 in 5 bedrooms (3 kingsize - 2 with ensuite shower rooms, 1 with fold down sofabed for +2 and 2 twin rooms) All beds have quality pocket sprung mattresses and soft, totally organic bedlinen. There is a spacious feature bathroom and an additional large walk in shower/wc. Three chunky squishy sofas with colourful, Fair Trade cushions, rugs and bean bags furnish the living room area on one side of the huge stone fireplace which houses the double sided log burner. State of the art 37" plasma HD ready TV and DVD player for those cosy nights in with a good film, small selection of DVDs supplied, or plenty of good books, games and puzzles. On the other side of the fireplace is the kitchen/dining area with 8ft dining table made from reclaimed oak, bespoke quality kitchen with soft close doors and drawers, a full range of A or A+ energy rated appliances and everything you will need to rustle up a midnight snack for 2 or a gourmet feast for 12.

The boot/utility room has the extra sink for washing out swimwear etc, A+ washing machine, A tumble drier, plus dog basket and bowls for the doggy guests - due to the open plan nature of the Stone Barn living area we ask that pets sleep in the boot room or the purpose built private kennel in the courtyard. A large enclosed garden is laid mainly to lawn - great for ball games and running around generally or just enjoying the peace and quiet away from any busy traffic noise, in fact away from any noise other than the wildlife and nearby farm animals. There are wooden benches made from recycled cartwheels and 2 picnic benches which look like wood but are in fact made from recycled plastic - these stand in the lovely protected sandstone courtyard. A BBQ is also provided during the summer months - please ask if you require it at other times.  Guests at the Stone Barn have exclusive use of the Wildlife Activity Room in the small barn conversion next door (owners will advise of any arranged educational visits which happen occasionally).  Have a go at wildife activities prepared by the Devon Wildlife Trust, watch the live pictures from the hidden wildlife camera in the specialist bat attic or just have a game of table tennis. Guests can also follow the wildlife nature trails through the owners 130 acre estate (currently only 45 acres accessible but the rest should soon be) from the doorstep. Arrange for a guided walk or just explore with a map, find hidden bird and bat boxes, ponds, activity points, wildlife hides and learn about the wildlife of Devon.

The 'green' credentials of The Stone Barn are; Triple thermal insulation. Ground source heat pump provides cosy ambient temperature through underfloor heating throughout. Solar panels provide piping hot water (with back up system for those dark winter days). Rainwater harvesting system used to provide water for laundry and toilet flushing. Reclaimed and recycled building materials used. Environmentally friendly and sustainably sourced building materials and paints used. Organic, Fair Trade, locally sourced furniture, fixtures and fittings. Specialist wildlife habitat provisions made to accomodate bats and owls. Owners have repeatedly won Gold Awards from the Devon Wildlife Trust for working for the benefit of Devon's wildlife. Recycling and composting facilities.
