For lazy days, there are plenty of books, games and DVDs to keep everyone entertained. Nearby Ashburton has a good selection of shops, restaurants and pubs, and Torquay, Exeter and Plymouth are all within easy driving distance.

Dartmoor is the biggest & wildest area of open country in southern England. The breathtaking landscape is home to a huge variety of wildlife & the area is rich in history & antiquities. Splash Cottage is in the village of Ponsworthy at the heart of Dartmoor, a picturesque thatched cottage often pictured in calenders & postcards. Splash is the perfect base for family holidays or for friends to get together, allowing you to experience the wonders of Dartmoor through the many activities nearby. Footpaths begin at the front door & lead across the moor, & there are local opportunities for cycling, pony trekking, golf, fishing, & climbing. There are local heritage sites & National Trust properties, as well as farms & miniature pony sanctuaries. Across the moor, there are restaurants, pubs & cafés in which to sample the famous Devon cream tea, & a variety of shops selling local produce, arts & crafts.
