(2 welcome) This beautiful, cosy cottage offers warm and comfortable accommodation for 4 in a quiet rural location with beautiful views across the countryside. The cottage is all on one level. Originally the potting shed to Hargate Hall, built c. 1900, it was part of a larger estate that comprised a lodge, coach house and stables and large glass houses. Now completely modernised, the cottage has 2 bedrooms, bathroom, and a kitchen/living room. The cottage has full central heating and a log burning stove for cosy winter nights. It is also fully double glazed, making it really cosy, even in the coldest weather.
Facilities
Bedroom 1 has a double bed, bed-side tables with lamps, wardrobe and chest of drawers. The room is fully carpeted. It is also possible to put a cot in this bedroom if required. Bedroom 2 has adult sized bunk beds, wardrobe and chest. There is a bed-side table for the lower bunk, with lamp, and a shelf and wall light for the top bunk. This room is also fully carpeted. Bed linen is included in the price. The bathroom has a bath with shower over. There is constant hot water. Shower gel, bubble bath and soap are provided for your convenience, and there are enough loo rolls to last you at least a couple of days. Towels are provided at no extra cost. The Living Room/Kitchen has a cosy cottage suite, complete with rocking chair, flat screen TV/DVD player and a log burning stove. Kindling and logs are provided at no extra charge. There is also a pine table and chairs for dining. A high chair is available on request. The kitchen area has a full sized oven with hob over, a microwave, toaster, kettle, fridge and dishwasher. Kitchen linen is provided, along with paper kitchen towels, dishwasher tablets, washing up liquid, tea, coffee and sugar. A pint of milk will be in the fridge on arrival and some biscuits and flowers complete your welcome package. There will even be some treats for your doggie friends!

Outside
Outside there is a country garden with sun deck and barbeque and garden furniture. Very little traffic passes the cottage as the road is only used for access to local cottages and 2 farms. The garden is quiet and peaceful and commands beautiful views across the hills to Rushup Edge. You can frequently see the hang gliders that soar from the top of Mam Tor. Parking is on the driveway right outside the cottage. There are also laundry facilities at the rear of the cottage for you to use at no charge.
Shopping and the local area
Shopping and amenities such as restaurants, banks, chemists and doctors are available in the nearby village of Tideswell (2 miles), or the town of Buxton (4 miles). Tideswell has a fish and chip shop to beat all others and also still has local butcher and greengrocers. The cottage is well placed for touring the Peak District on foot or by car. For those that like a challenge there are the high moorlands that make up the hills of the Peak District – Kinder Scout, Stanage Edge, Bleaklow, Axe Edge are all areas that will challenge and delight you. For those of you who prefer a gentler walk there are numerous dales such as Millers Dale, Lathkill Dale, the Goyt Valley and Derwent Valley to visit. Numerous picturesque and historic villages can be visited on foot or by car, such as Edale, Eyam and Castleton. The market town of Bakewell is only 8 miles away with its river walks and famous Pudding Shop; Buxton is just 4 miles away for exploring the delightful Pavilion Gardens and visiting the beautifully restored Opera House which offers a wide ranging programme all year round. There are also many stately homes in the area, the most famous being Chatsworth House, home of the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire. Apart from the house and its gardens there are miles of parkland to walk in free of charge, and there is also a farm shop and garden centre, both outside of the main house so there is no entrance charge. Within the grounds there is a farm and children’s adventure playground. Other houses in the area include Haddon hall, Lyme Park and Tatton Park. The cities of Manchester and Sheffield are both reached easily by train or car. For those who want to indulge in a bit of retail therapy the malls of Meadowhall and the Trafford Centre are accessible in about an hour.
