Vicarage Farm Cottages - Buxton,

The Vicarage is a magnificent grade 11 listed period residence and featured in Pesvener’s Guide to Historic Buildings. The imposing stone-built house stands in over 2 acres of private formal gardens and woodland. Fully refurbished by the current owners, it is designed for stylish entertainment on a grand scale. Dining can be alfresco, in the farmhouse kitchen, in the magnificent conservatory, or in the 29 foot drawing room with its large illuminated ingle-nook fireplace.

The Vicarage has 4 bedrooms comprising a magnificent master bedroom with fully exposed roof beams (furnished with a king-size bed and single bed), a family room also with king-size bed and single bed, and 2 double/twin bedded rooms. Upstairs there are 2 family bathrooms (including one with electric shower) which are designed to be en-suite if preferred and downstairs a third toilet and washroom. The property also benefits from one of the largest conservatories in the Peak District. The expansive drawing room with its stone mullion windows and open fire is a popular retreat whereas others prefer the snugness of the library again with open fire. The fully equipped farmhouse kitchen always offers a warm welcome with the essential red Aga and its double oven, complimented by a separate ceramic hob. In winter the private sauna in the Vicarage is popular with groups and families alike or in summer makes a great Wendy House if you’re under 5!

The Vicarage has proved particularly popular with those families who wish to enjoy their holiday with friends or extended family without either family foregoing luxury, space and privacy which is often an important element of the holiday. The spacious house effectively offers 2 master bedrooms with en-suite facilities and 2 double/twin bedded rooms. A perfect solution for 2 families holidaying together, particularly as there are also 2 separate lounges allowing space for different groups. The Vicarage benefits from beautiful private gardens which surround the property on 3 sides. The dining kitchen offers views across the formal lawns to an exposed natural limestone rockery and wood beyond.

There is a private entrance from the garden to the Vicarage Farm Cottages all weather tennis court. Convenient off-road parking for up to 3 cars is provided, situated next to the stables.

Next to the Vicarage are 3 additional cottages which can be booked in conjunction with the Vicarage. The Princes Seat is a fully refurbished stone barn conversion. It offers superb self-contained accommodation and is equipped to a high standard. Named after Bonnie Prince Charlie (a reputed early guest at Vicarage Farm), the Princes Seat has 3 comfortable bedrooms and sleeps up to 7 people. It comprises 1 family bedroom (with double bed and single bed), a double bedded room and a twin bedroom. It has an upstairs family bathroom and in addition, there is a shower room downstairs complete with sauna and toilet. The large sitting room has a piano and open log fire giving it a warm and homely feel. The large kitchen is fully equipped with breakfast bar, dishwasher, fridge freezer and electric cooker. It adjoins the dining area furnished with farmhouse table and dresser.

The Princes Seat is often booked in conjunction with one or two of the smaller properties at Vicarage Farm as both the sitting room and dining area are of a size to accommodate more than 10 people in comfort. This makes it ideal for those extended families who want to spend time with each other but not too much time!

Also available to be booked with the Vicarage or independently are the Vergers End and the Millers View. The Vergers End is a spacious two-bedroomed stone built cottage which offers delightful views over fields and the landscaped grounds. It has a wonderfully cosy farmhouse feel, and its natural lighting gives it a real sense of peace. We are confident that this cottage will meet your expectation of the ideal cottage in the country. The light and airy master bedroom with its double bed has a full length window overlooking the garden. There is also a delightful twin-bedded room and next door the family bathroom has a shower above the bath. In addition, the property benefits from its own private sauna. The sitting room has an open log fire and full length window. There is a comfortable open plan dining area that leads from the well equipped kitchen. This property is particularly popular with families during school holidays and with couples during the low season.

And finally the Millers View: The view from this cosy hideaway overlooks fields towards the Wye Valley at Millers Dale. The property forms part of a stone barn conversion. It is particularly popular with couples looking for a romantic retreat who want the comfort of a hotel but the freedom and intimacy of their own place. As all facilities are on the same level, single parents find this accommodation to be both relaxing and stress free. This two bedroomed first-floor apartment comprises a compact but comfortable double bedroom together with a bedroom with full-size single bunk-beds. There is a shower room and compact kitchen equipped with fridge, micro-wave and electric cooker. The hallway with its exposed natural stone wall leads to the comfortable and well equipped sitting room. The Miller’s View enjoys the benefit of full gas central heating and is an ideal getaway for Spring and Autumn breaks or long Winter weekends.
